Acrylic – 30″ x 30″ – After watching the Marley documentary for what seems a 100 times on Netflix, I decided on the subject for my next painting. I went with the 30″ x 30″ because I dug the square look and I wanted to paint on bigger canvases. I also wanted to paint a Marley photo that I haven’t seen on a shirt or poster so I searched Google until I found the perfect image I liked. I absolutely love the photo of Bob singing and his dreads flying all over the place. I even blasted “Trenchtown Rock” as I painted for motivation.
Because I was painting on bigger canvases, this piece took me a little longer than I expected. Originally, I wanted to use the tradition reggae colors but as I continued working on it, I felt like I needed to change the look of it so I chose to use earth tone colors instead. After what seemed like months of painting, I finally finished and it too is a popular piece of mine. I will definitely be painting more Marley pieces, but it won’t be anytime soon. I have a long list of musicians I want to complete first.
