I am a Multimedia Artist based in Houston, Texas specializing in Photography, Event Photography, and Videography. I often say Art chose me because I started on this creative road a long time ago before I knew what being an artist was.
My introduction to Art and first love was drawing cartoon characters. Under the influence of my uncle, I started drawing regularly from childhood until my preteens. During my high school years, I added to the creative arsenal and signed up for Photography. I must admit that at 15 years old, my focus wasn’t on becoming the next Annie Leibowitz, but simply to avoid taking Speech as an elective.
As a Junior in college, I landed a super cool job working part time in the Promotions Dept. of the Houston Rockets. I unofficially became the department Photographer documenting team and community events throughout the city. In addition to Photography, I was also granted the opportunity to test the graphic design skills from school and create flyers for a few events for the department.
Fast forward a Bachelor’s degree and a few entry level jobs later to 2007. It was then that I officially became passionate about Photography when I purchased my first DSLR camera. Under the tutelage of herself, books, and YouTube, I spent many years cultivating my craft of Portrait Photography.
One of my biggest breaks came when a friend invited me to shoot a concert on behalf of Houston Style Magazine. During my 6-year tenure working with the magazine, I’ve photographed numerous celebrity events and national concerts including the Essence Music Festival. Since 2013, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to be one of the few black female photographers on the NFL sidelines shooting home games for the Houston Texans.
When I’m not in Photographer mode on location, at an event, or photo shoot; you can find me napping, watching old television shows, or out eating Tex Mex!
